JOHN SCOTT for Florida State House District 79

Scott, “If you want to stop the destructive Lake Okeechobee discharges that are destroying our estuaries and make our coastal waters look like an oil spill occurred; if you want to see REAL Everglades Restoration move forward by purchasing land south of Lake Okeechobee and move clean, fresh water south into the Everglades; if you want to save our fisheries, tape grass, sea grass, oyster beds, marine life and tourism industry, then support John Scott.” Scott “will fight with every ounce of his being to protect the water and natural beauty that makes Florida paradise.”

DIANE ZIGROSSI for Lee County Commissioner District 5

Our meeting on June 8 was devoted to consideration of Lee County School Board races. The August 30th Primary Election will also decide Lee County School Board Elections (NOT Primaries). We were fortunate to have dandidates for District 2, Charles Flores and David llusk, District 3, Lori Fayhee and Chris Patricca, and District 7, Betsy Vaughn, present to introduce themselves and discuss their views of the issues. There were other LCSB candidates there as well. There were over 20 members and visitors present for this meeting

John Scott is a candidate for State House Representative District 79. Among our guests were Gene Kelly, Field Director for Alan Grayson's senatorial campaign, Maxwell Frost who will be in Lee County through the November in support of the Democratic Candidate.

We also had several Republican visitors including Dick Anderson, County Commisioner District 3 candidate.

    May Meeting

On the Congressional District Delegate Caucus Day, May 7th, voting was held in both Lee and Collier counties to select our 19th Congressional District Level Delegates to the National Convention in August.

Our meeting on May 8th was our opportunity to meet the three Democrats who won the balloting on May 7th.  They will serve as Pledged District Level Delegates.

Ms Sandra McClinton is pledged to Clinton.  Ms. McClinton has been active in Lee County Democratic Executive Committee service.  She includes flying in her history.

Mr. Joe Wells, also pledged to Clinton, is making a first try at Lee County Democratic activity.  He followed his belief in the power of name recognition and shook a lot of hands and met a lot of people at the Lee County Polling Place.  His background is as leader of the southeastern railway union of engineers and firemen.  Among his accomplishments was integration of the union by adding African-American firemen to the Union and also adding the first women as members.

Ms. Judy Dempsey, a Stetson University Law School graduate, is pledged to Sanders.  She is a activist from Collier County.

Listening to the three delegates was exciting.  They will represent our district well.

The meeting was also a time to meet our new Vice President and Secretary: Rose Cacicio.  We're glad to have her help.  Welcome, Rose!
